What is Occupational Accident Insurance?

Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI) is similar to worker’s compensation in that it covers medical expenses related to accidents that may occur while providing services.

Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI) is designed to cover for medical expenses, & related benefits including death, for accidental injuries arising out of the course and scope of the work undertaken. Occupational Accident Insurance does not cover any work related illnesses and lost wages.

Q: What is Occupational Accident Insurance?
A: Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI) is designed to cover for medical expenses, lost wages, & related benefits including death, for accidental injuries arising out of the course and scope of the work undertaken. Occupational Accident Insurance does not cover any work related illnesses.

Q: Why do I need Occupational Accident Insurance?
A: In some cases, if you get hurt on the job, your general health insurance will not cover your injuries. It also will not cover your wages should the injury put you out of work for an allotted period of time. Occupational Accident Insurance provides these extra layers of protection while you are on the job.

Q: Is there a charge for Occupational Accident Insurance?
A: Yes. Charges for OAI are based on usage, at a competitive rate of $.55/hour for out-of-car work and $.60/hour for in-car work. Effective March, 15, 2016, OAI will be automatically deduced from your pay, identified as a line item for “Trust and Safety Fee”. 

Q: How do I qualify for Occupational Accident Insurance under the OOLLOOA platform?
A: Occupational Accident Insurance is offered to individuals specifically classified as an Independent Contractor. Occupational Accident Insurance is only available to you if you are performing services as an Independent Contractor under the OOLLOOA platform as an approved and appointed vendor.

Q: How do I sign up for Occupational Accident Insurance?
A: Occupational Accident Insurance is offered by OOLLOOA, after an independent contractor becomes a member of the OOLLOOA platform. Wonolo will provide a portal to sign up for OOLLOOA membership and a mechanism to administer this insurance product. Wonolo will share data linked to independent contracts only to correctly administer Occupational Accident Insurance.

Q: What will my benefits be under the Occupational Accident Insurance program? All benefits and terms are outlined in the attached PDF.

Q: Will I have any out-of-pocket expenses if I have an accidental injury on a job?
A: No, there are no deductibles on the benefits described above.

Q: What if I get injured while working and have to take an ambulance to the hospital; will my OA Insurance cover the trip?
A: There is a benefit under your OA policy that includes 1 round trip to and from a hospital to a Maximum of $10,000 per Accident.

Q: Whom do I notify if I have an accident while on a job?
A: If you sustain injuries while in the course of work, this is inclusive of a slip & fall, car pickup and drop off, en route or a delivery,
